Elle Decoration

For the latest issue of Elle Decoration I was asked to produce two styled features. Unusually I was asked to seek inspiration from 2 house stories, both beautiful, unique but very different from each other. I liked them both equally and found myself idling over which house I would choose to live in if given the chance, I wish! The relaxed, contemporary fresh and airy space of Liza Giles or the elegant and glamorous so Parisian apartment of Ann Sophie Pailleret……

The most obvious take out from Paillerets house was the strong palette, inspired by a Hermes wallpaper.  I just love those deep jewel like tones of jade, and bottle greens. It also gave me the opportunity to show case 2 new designs from my favorite brands. The striking Beetle chair by Gramfratesi for Gubi in its new tropical upholstery pared with as so hot right now brass frame and the sculptural Palette desk launched this year by andtradition. So new there was only one sample, we were very lucky to get it!

There was so much inspiration in Liza Giles house too but as it is a spring issue but we choose to concentrate on the indoor planting.  Houseplants are key trend right now and whilst I know about pots and containers my knowledge of plants is limited. So I was so grateful when cool east London florist ‘s Grace and Thorn agreed to help me out. Their Hackney Road shop is virtual urban jungle brimming with unusual and exotic plants, and each plant comes with helpful growing tips on a beautifully illustrated postcard. See below.
